Overview

African Women's Development Fund and Gender Links Mauritius: Advancing SRHR, Gender Justice and Inclusion

With support from the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF), Gender Links Mauritius has advanced sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender justice, GBV prevention and inclusion of marginalised groups, including transgender persons. The work combines community education, research, advocacy and movement building to strengthen access to information, services and rights.

What the Partnership Has Achieved

The partnership has helped place SRHR at the centre of gender justice work in Mauritius. It has created safer spaces for discussion on reproductive health, consent, stigma, discrimination, bodily autonomy and protection from violence.

Through research and advocacy, Gender Links Mauritius has also strengthened local evidence on transgender rights, legal recognition, access to services and the need for inclusive policies based on dignity, equality and non-discrimination.
